My name is Jetta and I am the blog designer for the The Pen and Broom Blog. Most of the writing is done by the blog's co-owner; Lily Mars.
We are both from the same part of the world - the great north woods of the United States. After spending time growing up in logging country, then living in big cities, I found myself moving to a rural, farming region to a hobby farm that my partner and I christened, Drag'n Rock Farm. Our farm does not have livestock, we seem to have an overabundance of rock, but on Drag'n Rock Farm we farm ideas, repair old buildings, make wine and beer, work with renewables and sustainable energy, and watch our gardens grow.
As for Lily, and what she writes, she has had a pencil in her hand since birth and tends to look closer and further in to things to see what makes them tick, then engages others on what that vision was about.
I question everything. Nothing is sacred. That questioning - the constant dis-belief in reality, opens up the mind to so very many paths. Like a multi-sided Rubik's Cube, a movement of one small part, changes everything. That is what I look for and that is what I ask my writers to embrace.
My aim as a designer for The Pen and Broom, is to inspire and teach you to understand enough to make good decisions for you and your family. I won't pretend to be a psychologist, I won't pretend to be a teacher or a guru, and I definitely won't tell you what politics or religion to follow . I will just show you how I find ways to listen, feel, taste, smell and understand the simple to the complex.
For now, this is just a simple blog site with simple stories. In the future The Pen and Broom team (Lily and I) plan to expand to include illustrations, possibly a forum, and additional pages. We are hoping for lots of comments and critiques to guide us through the process, for even though our cumulative writing experience is more than 40 years, each new endeavor makes us all novices, all over again, each and every day.
I am sure that some of you are also new to what a blog is and may not know how to get the most out of a blog site, what all the widgets are for or what they do, why contacts and comments are requested and why you should subscribe to a blog if you like it.
