The New Adventure

Well people, Jetta is off on a new and exciting adventure. I am untethered from the Institute of Daily Self-Abuse (IDSA - employment with a master that is not yourself). Without the constraints of IDSA staring at me every morning, eating up my day, I can see more possibilities and opportunities for adventure and growth than I could with the shaded existence I was living. But to preface that - I've been here and done this before, so I've a bit of experience under my hat that will help me work around the traps and pitfalls that await my eager feet.

The first pitfall; you just want to stay in bed or lay on the couch and watch TV all day, or sit on the computer playing games all day. DANGER WILL ROBINSON! DANGER! Here's a clue on a work around for that. When you get out of bed in the morning to visit the bathroom, put on your jeans. In addition, if you are a gal, put on your bra. Believe me, sleeping in a bra is mucho uncomfortable, so it's a good preventative measure.

Take your morning bathroom break, make up a pot of coffee or put on the water for tea and then return to your bedroom.....SAY WHAT????...yes, return. MAKE YOUR BED. Make it up so it looks nice and purty. No wrinkles, pillows fluffed, fancy pillows on top of those, the afghan folded neatly at the end and this is so important......place the remote for the TV as far away from the bed that you can. Then walk away from your bedroom and get a cup of coffee or tea, a notebook and pen (not a pencil - cause erasing is a way out), and set them on the table. Kitchen, living room, desk....walk over to the window, look outside and smile. It's a new day and there are new things coming your way - good or bad - either way, it will be an adventure.

Now, sit down at the table and write three lists. A list of immediate things that you need to get done and a list of those things that you may (or may not after pondering) want to get done. The third list is the most important. It is the list of possibilities and new paths that you may choose to go down. Look them all over, set them in an area where you can see them and then walk away. You can look at them tomorrow, they might need to be changed or re-started, but what you do not want to do is to get yourself set into a pattern. You need to leave your options open. If you routine yourself, you are just taking the old IDSA and exchanging it for a new IDSA, but your boss will be you and you are much more harsh and restrictive than anyone else can be.

In your head - not on paper, set a couple of goals. Like.....

Learn something new every day.
Try something new every day.
Learn or teach yourself to be comfortable with yourself.

That last one can become a make or break situation. Don't let it get to where it drags you down. That is a path to depression and oblivion and loss. Never a good place to visit or to vacation in. So at the end of the day, if you seem to be anxious about your life, take this advice:

As one of our favorite book writers says......relax and have a homebrew. If you don't imbibe, then relax and have a cup of relaxing tea.

So ends today's post.
